Must haves for covering acne and scarring:

Trying to cover acne and scars can be a tiring process so here are a few must-haves to make your life easier:

NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer:

A matte, high coverage concealer that is perfect for concealing dark spots. redness and scars. Containing peptides, hyluronic acid, Vitamins A,C and E, it is the perfect product for sensitive/ acne prone skin.

As someone who actively struggles from acne-prone skin with highly pigmented scars, this product has been a life saver for me. It effectively covers up any unwanted redness and is perfect to carry in your bag in case you need a top up (I doubt that you will because it works wonders).

How I use it: because I am targeting redness and want a significant amount of coverage, I apply the product with a dense concealer brush and pack the concealer into the skin. I then set the product with a veil of powder to make sure the product doesn’t move.

Glow Hub Under Cover High Coverage Zit Zap Concealer Wand:

Like the NARS concealer, the Glow Hub concealer wand is amazing at covering up any unwanted redness or bumps. Enfused with salicylic acid, tea tree oil and white willow bark, it is the perfect skin care infused product.

How I use it: personally, I like to put some product on the back of my hand and use a brush to apply as I find I have better control over the coverage due to it being a thick consistancy. This way I can ensure that my skin doesn’t look cakey.

Huda Beauty Easy Bake Fragrance-Free Loose Baking and Setting Powder:

World-renowned for a reason, the Huda Beauty Powder is the best at locking in cream products and creating an overall veil on the skin. The powder contains Vitamin E, is fragrance-free and non-comedogenic.

When targeting acne/ redness, I prefer to use a powder puff to apply my powder as I feel it doesn’t disturb my base products and helps to create smooth-looking skin.

Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless Powder:

Perfect for on the go or for touching up your makeup, Maybelline’s Fit Me powder is perfect at providing that little bit of extra coverage that the loose powder may not or is perfect for setting the face as a whole. When using this product to cover up acne, I prefer to go in with my loose powder first and then take my pressed powder and use a fluffy brush to go over my targeted areas. As someone who has oily skin, I find that this extra step ensures my redness stays hidden and my face as a whole looks less shiny. This and the NARS Concealer are two staple products that I always carry in my bag.

Kylie Cosmetics Concealer Brush:

The Kylie Cosmetics Concealer Brush excels in its function: applying concealer smoothly and evenly. The synthetic bristles are densely packed yet soft allowing for precise application when targeting acne and scars. Whilst being primarily designed for concealer, the tapered shape of the brush head is ideal for reaching tricky areas around the nose and eyes when using foundation.

This brush is my favourite when applying the NARS concealer as it fits perfectly into the pot and helps pack on the product without soaking up loads of the product.

Beautyblender Power Pocket Puff:

The Beautyblender Power Pocket Puff boasts a unique and innovative design which features a dual sided construction: one side with a plush pink microfiber for a soft, velvety finish and the other with a tan suede-like material for a more precise application. The plush pink side picks up and deposits the perfect amount of powder, providing a smooth, even finish without caking and works well with both loose and pressed powders.

When using the powder puff with powder to set my concealer, I lightly tap the puff onto the skin to create a smooth finish to prevent disturbing the base products.
